CECILIA SMITH
The Performing Arts Division and the Tri-C JazzFest are pleased to announce that Cuyahoga Community College is the recipient of the prestigious Joyce Award. This award supports a multi-year collaborative project with composer, educator, and jazz vibraphonist Cecilia Smith. As part of this project, Smith will have a long-term residency at Cuyahoga Community College where she will work with Tri-C students and faculty to identify stories and visual images from the college community and the Cleveland community as the subject and inspiration for a new composition. The finished work will premiered during the 30th Anniversary of the Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland, in April 2009. The project will be documented by the Tri-C Media Center, which operates the campus television station. For more information about how you and your students can become involved, please contact Beth Rutkowski at beth.rutkowski@tri-c.edu.
